The Tokyo Consortium is the host of the Tokyo area, which is a startup ecosystem hub city promoted by the Cabinet Office, and is engaged in two major activities in cooperation with Kanagawa, Ibaraki, Chiba, etc. The first is to use events and working events to provide opportunities for people from industry, academia, government, and the private sector to connect with each other. The second is an initiative called Deep Ecosystem, which selects carefully selected companies and provides individual support to companies that will become unicorns in the future.
Today's event is being held as an opportunity to report on the results of Deep Ecosystem and companies that have been selected for green startup support.
(I.e.:Please tell us about your business, the challenges you face, and the support you received from Tokyo Consortium.
(I.e.: We provide resource saving through robot solutions, with the goal of solving social issues such as a declining workforce and aging facilities through mechanization, remoteization, and automation. To address the issue of it being difficult for our company to be recognized as different from other companies, we were able to coordinate with a partner company that had never worked with drones, and they helped us with introductions and applications that would serve as a foothold for overseas expansion. .
中: We are developing a wide range of edge AI platform ``Actcast'' that makes it possible to collect and utilize real-world data using analysis technology such as images and audio. In the AI boom, it is essential to improve "non-AI parts" in order to incorporate it into the field. The problem is that sales are difficult due to the nature of the platform. I was introduced to major department stores and railway companies, and was able to proceed with concrete business negotiations.
Shimada: We develop, manufacture, and sell domestically produced drones and systems that handle everything from hardware design to data analysis. Vertical take-off and landing fixed-wing (VTOL) aircraft are also used by government agencies for use in locations where long-distance and wide-area flight is required. Even if I had met someone at a company before, I was introduced by Deloitte and was able to meet someone from a different department, which sometimes changed the course of the conversation.
Kamei: We are developing financial inclusive fintech services for low credit groups around the world, and developing IoT devices for remote vehicle start control and data analysis platforms. The person who was in charge of supporting us was a certified public accountant, and it was also helpful for us to be able to easily talk to them about things we wanted to ask an audit firm, etc., but couldn't ask, as we aimed to go public.
(I.e.: We are developing services and products that automate equipment inspection and workplace management at power transmission equipment, plant facilities, construction sites, etc. In addition to approaches from companies in the oil and steel industries, we also conducted case simulations of decarbonization and were able to quantify the amount of CO2 that could actually be reduced.
(I.e.: Please let us know what you would like to do together with the people who are here today, and if there is any support you would like to receive.
(I.e.: There are many new technologies and solutions that are created there that you won't understand until you experience them. I would like to see an opportunity for a showcase with a specific theme.
中: To solve problems, it is important to visualize the collected field data and spread it horizontally across sectors. I would like the government to take leadership and create a system that connects data horizontally.
Shimada:I would like to work with government agencies, local governments, and people interested in related businesses to prepare for disasters using vertical takeoff and landing fixed wing (VTOL).
Kamei: I would like to build an ecosystem of personnel exchange where venture companies come to us as members rather than customers, and where they can take what they have learned back to large companies and put it to use.
(I.e.: We would like to borrow on-site assets from the Tokyo metropolitan area or large companies. I would like to use the feedback to improve the service whether it is usable or not.
(I.e.:Please tell us about your business, the challenges you face, and the support you received from Tokyo Consortium.
Kubo:We aim to solve the garbage problem by producing glass by adsorbing and solidifying CO2. There were many talks from Europe, and we were asked to do business matching from the perspective of how to expand into Europe and America. They also proposed new business ideas using technology.
Hanyu:With our unique general-purpose large-scale culture system at the core, we are developing businesses such as cosmetics and supplements using culture supernatant liquid, and we are also developing infrastructure that allows us to use the technology for producing cultured meat in a variety of ways. With risk money dwindling nationwide, we had not yet decided on a business strategy and were worried about securing cash, but they kindly provided us with a wide range of consultations, including introducing potential clients.
Great North: Develops carbon credit trading and exchange business. We are developing "Agreen," a one-platform service that provides comprehensive support for credit creation, registration, application, and sales. We have them research the strengths of overseas markets and give us specific advice on how to present and explain when taking on an accelerator program.
moat: We operate a renewable energy operation platform equipped with simulation and portfolio management functions at the business planning stage for renewable energy power plants, storage batteries, etc. We received advice on sales, lead acquisition, human resource introduction, and organizational structure, which are often neglected when raising funds.
(I.e.:What kind of collaboration do you want to do with people from large companies, VCs, and startups?
Kubo: We would be very grateful if you could cooperate with us in the parts of large-scale experiments that require enormous costs that would be difficult for our company to do alone.
Hanyu:Since we need to pass lab experiments and carry out thorough quality control from now on, it would be great if we could interact with personnel from large companies who are knowledgeable in this area.
Great North: I would like you to work with us to create carbon credits. Even if you have a goal of 2030, please take this opportunity to experience it once.
moat:In the current situation where renewable energy is still in short supply, if a large company has idle land or roofs, I would like them to consider renewable energy generation together as an option.
Miyazawa:Please tell us about your business, the challenges you face, and the support you received from Tokyo Consortium.
Kida:As a development platform, we screen and select the microalgae most suitable for the customer's needs from an algae library of 70 strains of 500 species, and license out the technology. Regarding overseas expansion, although the target area was wide, there was a lack of manpower and it was difficult to gather information. While continuing efforts to increase manpower, we asked them to help us compile a list of areas, mainly macro and micro market information and regulatory information, in order to select locations to attack, mainly in Southeast Asia.
White water:Developing, manufacturing, and selling microwave wireless power transfer (WPT) equipment to realize a "digital" world without wires. We are contributing to the improvement of implant devices based on medical needs. Laws related to radio waves are quite complex both domestically and internationally, so we utilized Deloitte's network for research and discussion.
(I.e.: We are developing the industry's highest level original AI that uses an online unsupervised learning method to visualize conclusions and reasons and transfer learning to other AIs. Because I am relying so much on my technical capabilities, I was faced with the challenge of creating a business plan that would resonate with investors and customers, so I was grateful for the support I received.
中: We are developing and commercializing a low-temperature, low-pressure ammonia synthesis process with the aim of hedging supply chain risks and decarbonization, including improving food security. As the size of the company expanded and our cultures and backgrounds became different, we were asked to help us rebuild our Mission, Vision, and Values in order to align our vectors.
(I.e.: The design of nuclear fusion reactors, the development and provision of elemental technologies, etc., which are the key to safely and sustainably realizing a decarbonized society. Based on multiple stages of demonstration, we aim for full-scale commercialization after 2040. We needed a large space to build experimental equipment, so we asked them to make a list of local governments that would accept nuclear fusion experiments.
Miyazawa:What kind of collaboration do you want to do with people from large companies, VCs, and startups?
Kida: I would love to talk to people who are having trouble reducing CO2 emissions.
White water: We would like to contribute to the SDGs through air conditioning collaboration centered on the building management business.
(I.e.:Please try the free trial before the summer when you can get the most energy saving effect.
中:We are looking for people to help us demonstrate what to do with the hydrogen we produce.
(I.e.: Many people are saying, ``I'll wait until it's completed,'' but I'm looking for a company that I can start working with now, with an eye on the next 5-10 years.
The Tokyo Consortium will continue to support entrepreneurs with all its might in order to produce world-class startups from Tokyo. Thank you for your continued support.
