■ Overview
On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, we held the “Tokyo Consortium Networking Day—A Meetup Where Startups, Government Agencies, Corporations, and VCs Connect Across Boundaries” at Tokyo Innovation Base (TIB).
This event was organized in collaboration with local governments in the Tokyo metropolitan area with the aim of creating the kind of serendipitous encounters and connections that are unique to in-person interactions, thereby serving as a starting point for diverse stakeholders—including startups, established companies, VCs/CVCs, and government officials—to engage in concrete discussions regarding future business partnerships, pilot projects, and investment opportunities.
On the day of the event, we held pitch sessions and networking sessions featuring startups referred by local governments in the Tokyo metropolitan area, providing participants with an opportunity to share their interests and challenges with one another while exploring potential new partnerships.

In a survey conducted after the event, more than 80% of respondents rated the event as “satisfied” or “somewhat satisfied,” indicating that it was highly regarded by participants. Additionally, approximately 90% of respondents reported that they “were able to build new professional networks,” suggesting that the event provided meaningful opportunities for participants to interact with one another.
In addition, all of the participating startups that responded to the survey reported that they “met people who could lead to deeper relationships or future meetings,” resulting in new connections with corporate entities, academic institutions, and representatives from local governments in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
Specifically, we received feedback that could lead to future collaboration and partnerships, such as the following:
- This created an opportunity that led to a proposal for implementation at a business company.
- We had the opportunity to meet with academic institutions that could become direct clients.
- We were able to establish new connections with officials from several local governments in the Tokyo metropolitan area with whom we had previously had no contact.
- We received information from government agencies and other organizations regarding acceleration programs and facilities, which provided us with a foothold for expanding our operational base.
Based on these results, this event not only helped build relationships among participants but also served as a starting point for the presenting startups to explore future collaboration and partnerships.
